Wired.com: Secunia PSI helps stop botnets

13:45 CET, 31st May 2011 By Secunia.

The Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) has been recognised by Wired in their magazine and tablet editions, as a solution to help stop botnets.

Wired provides in-depth coverage of current and future trends in technology. In the article, “Burning Question: Why Can’t We Stop the Botnets?” by Ryan Singel, botnets are referred to as “zombie armies” that “continue to thrive, sending daily bursts of stolen info (yes, possibly including yours) to servers around the world.”

Antivirus software is not enough to keep up with the speed of malware mutation alone. The article therefore states, “For now, experts recommend running patch-checking tools like Secunia PSI as a complement to your antivirus software.”
