Hello,

today PSI reported my current version of Apple's 'QuickTime' as vulnerable and indicated an update form version 7.69.80.9 to 7.7, so far so good.

But after I've downloaded the recent installer from the Apple web site, it was just the version I've already installed, and PSI still indicated it as insecure.

Isn't it strange?

I'm running a system with Microsoft Vista home premium with all the recent updates and patches. My version PSI - 2.0.0. built 3001

Hello UpToDate, this worked for me: start QuickTime, press on help, press on update. You then get a selection menu and can download and install update. New verson is then: 7.7 (1680.34).

What I don't understand is why Secunia is calling the latest version 7.7 when the Quicktime website itself calls it version 7.6.9. I tried the trick of using the update feature within Quicktime itself but the Apple Software Updater just kept crashing.

Ok, after trying multiple solutions what finally worked for me was to:

Reboot then install the Quicktime 7.7 update from following website:

http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4938-apple-quick...

The version is 7.70.80.34

Why does the link to the update on Apple's website not work? Another member suggested it may be that if one server to the 7.7 update is busy it may automatically redirect to another server supposedly containing the 7.7 update but actually still serves up the old 7.6.9 update. So sometimes the 7.7 update link works & sometimes it redirects to the 7.6.9 update. I don't know.
