After using PSI for about a year, PSI stopped running. It never gets past Step 0. I eliminated certain, optional Windows components in my XP-Pro laptop. What could I have done to cause Secunia to fail?

Last edited on 30th Sep, 2011 08:41 Hi,

Which optional components did you eliminate? Please provide a list.

Edit: Earlier versions of the PSI depended on the Workstation service. Newer versions do not. You can download the newest version from the link in my signature.

Emil, thanks for your reply; however, I think I have the problem fixed. The version I had was 2.0.0.2001. MS Update had users unavoidably installing Windows Live Essentials and Desktop Search, sometimes without these programs getting into Control Panel, Add/Remove. Often, as in my case, they came with no uninstaller. That too is fixed. After doing a search, I now have PSI version 2.0.0.3001. I should have mentioned that the problem was on an XP-Pro system.

Thanks, Maurice. I had the solution before I received any forum responses. The problem was on a computer older than this one.
