John,
Here is the advisory:
http://secunia.com/advisories/product/34353/

Any programme that is End of Life will not be enhanced or any vulnerabilities fixed.

U can:

1. Upgrade to a secure version.
2. Uninstall it.
3. Create an Ignore rule having completed a risk Assessment against the Advisory.

If U decide to remove the file do this:

DELETING A FILE OR FOLDER USING PSI VERSION 2

To delete a vulnerable file or folder found by PSI try this:

1. Open PSI>Scan results.

2. Against the programme marked as vulnerable is a + sign to the left of it.

3. Click that & it will reveal DETECTED INSTANCES.

4. Below that are two yellow folders. Click the one WITHOUT a red dot.

5. That will open Windows Explorer & U will be able to see the vulnerable file or folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\ResumeMaker Professional\ActBar.ocx, version: 1.0.6.5

6. Right click on it & select delete.

7. Carry out a full PSI scan & all should be in order.

U may also need to remove the programme if it stops working via Control Panel>add/remove.

If U decide to retain it & run a risk do this:

CREATING IGNORE RULES - PSI VERSION 2

PROGRAMME EXCLUSION RULE

Open PSI>Scan results>expand any programme by clicking the "+" to the left of the programme entry.
This will reveal DETECTED INSTANCES and below it two Yellow Folders. Click the folder with the RED dot which will create an Ignore Rule for that item.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

In this case, we wouldnot recommend removing the program, as it may impair functionality of the program.

However, as this is an embedded installation that the end-user would be unable to deal with, I have removed it from our scan results. If you scan again, it should no longer be detected.

Hope this helps.

John,
I have left this thread open due to the comment made by a Secunia Official.

Although slightly "off piste" I also note at some stage U are thinking off updating your RAM.

Are U aware of this site?

http://www.crucial.com/

It has a scanner run via ActiveX which will tell U.

1. How many RAM slots U have.
2. The maximum RAM your PC will support.
3. The type of RAM currently installed so that U can get a speed match.

A read out will look like this (graphics excluded)

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 16GB
Currently Installed Memory: 16GB
Total Memory Slots: 4
Available Memory Slots: 0

Fitted To Slots

4GB
4GB
4GB
4GB

For what it is worth my Intel i7 came with 8GB of RAM resulting in a very fast PC with no worries about how many programmes are open. I upgraded to 16GB - not sure I have noticed much difference except for an increase of spare capacity!

Looks like RAM is as "cheap as chips" at the moment. 16GB is about 100 GBP at Crucial.

Hope this helps.
