---START---

Program Name:
GTK+ 2.x

Security State:
Insecure

Download Link:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtk+...

Instances Found:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GTK2-Runtime\bin\libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll, version: 2.16.6.0

Last System Scan (localtime):
5. Mar 2012, 11:21

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 7

---END---

The suggested patch download (zip file) creates a folder structure, but there are no instructions on how the user should "apply" this "patch". Simply overwrite all similar folders in the installpath of GTK+? In my case the "GTK2-Runtime" folder has more files than the GTK+ downloaded, so kind of reluctant to overwrite whatever is there and leave old binaries/libraries hanging around...

A note guiding people on *HOW* to apply this patch would be very helpful.

Thanks

I think GTK covers download issues here:

http://www.gtk.org/download/win32.php

Look for the All-in-one-bundles header where their is a link.

PSI will only send U to the vendors preferred method which is clearly zip for U to extract the data as required.

From the relevancy score I assume U are now happy?

On that basis, I will lock this thread for U sometime tomorrow unless U post back asking for it to be left open.

This will protect your mail box from possible update emails from Forum "tag on" posts

You can of course lock your own threads yourself. Just click the ACCEPT button in the post of the helper who offered U the best solution/advice to solve your problem.

Secunia Support can always reopen threads by applying by email to: support@secunia.com

If the target group of PSI is not (very) technical people, it would really help if you provided some hints as to what to do to update, when it's non-obvious (as in this case).

In this case I had to do my own research to figure out what and how needs replacing. Would it be possible to include this in the PSI report?

As for the policy of Secunia of mirroring vendors' preferred update policy: It makes sense, but it's sometimes not followed (e.g. PSI linked to a VLC-1.1.13.exe instead of pointing to the 2.0 release) and it sometimes just doesn't help end users enough.

Thanks for the explanation.
