I have installed a new version (3 times) by following Secunia instructions and rescanning.
But old version persists, even though it does not appear in Add/Remove Programs.
How do I remove it safely?

1. Please note that this programme is merely End of Life & not vulnerable.

2. The link Secunia have given U will not update this programme.

3. JAVA is embedded in a programme called DDNI - details here:
http://ddni.com/company/index.html

Looks like another false positive to me. I will contact Support for U & get them to comment.

EDIT: Email to support sent at 0800 hours BST

Please perform a full system rescan with the PSI and let us know if that has now solved the issue.

Hi,

If you run a full rescan this problem should no longer occur.

If the issue has not been resolved, please post the troubleshoot report. You can obtain the troubleshoot report by double-clicking the program entry on the scan results page (For PSI 2.x) and clicking "Troubleshoot report".

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. Only XP SP3 and rescanned. Secunia keeps trying to download an update. I went straight to Java and downloaded the newest program, (which said it was successful download), but it still says that the old one is still on computer. It also does not show up on Add Remove Programs or CCleaner. Has anyone come up with a solution. I was not able to copy and paste the troubleshoot report. Would really appreciate any help with this.

This thread is nothing to do with JAVA. It is about clearing a false positive indicating JAVA requires an update when it does not.

If @pderes (who created this thread) is satisfied that his problem has been resolved he/she could lock the thread at any time to protect his email box from update posts from "tag on" posts.

My advice is to create your own thread & include the Troubleshoot Report.

FINDING A FILE PATH USING PSI VERSION 2

From the DASHBOARD page click on SCAN RESULTS.

1. This will list all your programmes with a + to the left of each programme.
2. Click the + sign next to the item that U want help with.
3. This will reveal the path under DETECTED INSTANCES.
4. Below DETECTED INSTANCES you will see this You can double click this row for additional information & options>double click it>a box will appear>look to the RIGHT & U will see TROUBLESHOOT REPORT in BLUE writing under the heading TOOLBOX> click TroubleShoot Report & it will reveal some information in a box>highlight the information revealed from ---START--- to ---END--- & copy it (CTRL+C) then post it to the Forum (CTRL+V)

As an EXAMPLE the end result U post to the Forum should look something like this:
---START---

Program Name:
Adobe Flash Player 11.x

Security State:
Patched

Download Link:
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/curren...

Instances Found:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\Flash32_11_2_20 2_228.ocx, version: 11.2.202.228 (ActiveX)

Last System Scan (localtime):
3. Apr 2012, 09:25

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 7

---END---

I am the pderas who posted this thread. Thank you for your help. The problem is resolved after a new complete scan.

For some crazy reason I have been unable to log on here under pderas, so had to create a new identity and password. I'm unable to mark this thread resolved as a result.

I'd appreciate help from staff on this matter so that I (and obviously others) can stop getting updates.

Thanks.

pderas
