In Secunia Java keeps trying to update and can't because it is an end of life program. I went to Java site and had a successful download. But the old Java that is trying to update is not found in Add Remove or CCleaner. Don't know how to stop this. Secunia keeps coming up 98%.

Thank you for any help you can be.

JAVA PROBLEMS
Can be used with Windows XP,Vista & Windows 7 - 32 & 64 Bit Systems.

Go to Control Panel>add/remove.

Uninstall ALL versions of JRE or JSE or JDK or JVM or JAVA(TM) EXCEPT for JAVA(TM) 6 Update 31.

Now do a full PSI rescan & all should be in order.

Windows does not require JAVA to be installed to work therefore if U make a error & uninstall the lot it does not matter.

U can download the latest version from here if U really require JAVA.

http://www.java.com/en/download/ie_manual.jsp?loca...

U can test it is working correctly here:

Thank you Maurice, but I did all of this & checked on Java it says I have the latest Java installed Java SE6 update 31. The issue is that the older version keeps trying to update and is not in Add Remove, so do not know how to remove whatever is causing Secunia to keep on trying to update the old version. That is really what I wanted to know how to stop. And the fact that Secunia remains at 98%. Thank you for getting back to me.

No problem. This will remove it.

DELETING A FILE OR FOLDER USING PSI VERSION 2

1. Open PSI>Scan results.

2. Against the programme marked as vulnerable is a + sign to the left of it.

3. Click that & it will reveal DETECTED INSTANCES.

4. Below that are two yellow folders. Click the one WITHOUT a red dot.

5. That will open Windows Explorer & U will be able to see the vulnerable file.
C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_04\bin\NPJava32.dll, version: 1.3.1.4

6. Right click on each one & select delete.

7. Carry out a full PSI scan & all should be in order.

Diane,
Pleased to see U are all fixed up.

On that basis, I will lock this thread for U sometime tomorrow unless U post back asking for it to be left open.

This will protect your mail box from possible update emails from Forum "tag on" posts

You can of course lock your own threads yourself. Just click the ACCEPT button in the post of the helper who offered U the best solution/advice to solve your problem.

Secunia Support can always reopen threads by applying by email to: support@secunia.com

Have a nice weekend.
