I just installed PSI 2. When starting the scan, PSI appears to be connecting to Secunia's servers. However, when I start the scan, it appears to not be able to connect to https://secunia.com.

My Internet Options include ENABLE active scripting. https://*.secunia.com is listed among the designated websites. Require server verification (https) for all sites is checked.

I am using the most recent Norton Security Suite antivirus software.

What setting must be updated for enabling PSI 2's successful access to https://*secunia.com. I do not know how to add Secunia PSI 2 to Norton Security's "enabled" software.

I would appreciate your assistance.

Tex

Tex,
Try a reinstall. Click the version 2 link below my Signature Block & let it run

I followed your suggestions. I had the same result, scanning aborted, unable to connect to secunia's servers.

I uninstalled PSI 2 and downloaded, installed PSI 3. It also failed to scan.

I started to have these issues after uninstalling PSI 2 per the suggested PSI update. PSI 2 was functioning perfectly. I regret having installed PSI 3.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have uninstalled Secunia and will wait until an updated and functioning PSI is made available.

The uninstaller does not remove all the secunia "bits".

Give this a try:

Shut down the PSI tray icon if still present.

Go to start > run and enter Regedit(XP) in the box provided - for Windows Vista & 7 click the Start Orb>type Regedit in the search box>activate regedit from the search.

Now navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Secunia

Right click on the Secunia folder & select delete.

Reboot.

Now try a reinstall of PSI from my links. V2 should go into an auto scan on first use & recreate a Secunia ID.

Also, when installing the 2.x version from an earlier 2.x release on an XP system, I had to manually close the SUA.exe service process before it would continue to install.

I really don't like the lack of features in the 3.x release, and so I reverted my windows 7 machine as well from 3.x to 2.x , and that installed and ran fine. YEAH!!

I opened Regedit and deleted any reference to Secunia, including HKCU/Software/Secunia, followed by a reboot. I reinstalled PSI 2 and it still will not connect to Secunia's servers.

Thanks for your suggestion.

At least U have a clean install. I would suggest U trawl through these & check all the settings are still correct.

I just updated my Windows 7 Home Premium based laptop with Secunia 3. It ran successfully, including highlighting the need for installing last Tuesday's MS updates.

I reviewed and compared my laptop's Internet Options, security, medium level settings. Strangely, https://*.secunia.com was NOT even listed. Yet PSI 3 worked perfectly and I was able to view all of the software scanned.

So, I reviewed all of my W7 Pro desktop Internet Options settings. I deleted the previous suggestion for https://*.secunia.com, ran regedit and removed any listing of secunia . Both pc's Internet Options were identical. I rebooted.

After installing Secunia 3, it is still scanning for outdated software and updating scanning results, AFTER 15 minutes. The hour glass flickering icon suggests its still busy.

I am going to let Secunia run for at least 5 more hours.

What do you suggest?

I just read the suggestion for Administrative Services, Services tools. ONLY Secunia PSI Agent is started. Secunia PSI Agent is NOT listed within Services. How does one go about adding it?

Look in Windows Explorer - are these files present after your new reinstall?

Get a copy of Process Explorer at Mircrosoft -- go to http://SYSINTERNALS.com and get it there for free. It will easily list ALL the processes you have running.

SUA.exe is running on my machine, and I suspect it should be on yours. I don't know what that module does.

For more detailed views, use and learn how to use Process MONITOR, downloaded at the same site, and you can see where it is failing.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Process Explorer did not list sua.exe as being active when psi.exe was active.

PSI.EXE and psia.exe were active.

Process Monitor had far too many "NAME NOT FOUND" issues for me to list here. These were the first two of numerous NAME NOT FOUND listings:

Reg Open Key: HKCU\Software\Classes\.png

HKLM\Software\WOW6432 Mode\Microsoft\Cryptography

I deleted PSI 3. These issues are far beyond my understand. It suggests PSI 3 has its share of bugs. I will wait for Secunia to update its software. In the meantime, I am not willing to take the time for what Secunia should have resolved before making its software available for downloads.

Thanks again for everyone replies. Good luck on updating PSI 3. I will wait for Secunia's update email.
