Secunia reports that Power Point viewer needs updating, and when I try to update the viewer, my computer will not install this update, and also when I check wether I need this update, Microsoft Office says it does not apply to my computer, and also shows I do not need this update.

I am in the same boat, and do have a Dell and do have mediadirect, but get the same message. Can you complete the instructions for what we should to do update this security threat? In other words, after I identify the correct file, then what? thanks!

MediaDirect has part of Powerpoint embedded in their software.

Somewhere in MediaDirect is an update link - once U update to the latest version of MediaDiect it will correct your problem

I do not have MediaDirect so cannot tell U exactly where the update link is within the program.

Okay. Unfortunately, media direct reports that "no updates are available at this time." So, PSI says to update, but media direct says it's all okay. Not sure what to do at this stage...

I'm reading through this thread to see if there is a solution:

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/675...

Ok. Tried updating mediadirect another way (outside the startup wizard), and a 65mb update was found (as another user indicated in the thread above)...installing that now. I bet this works...

Thanks again...see my edited post above...I found an update and am almost done installing it now.

"Congratulations!" Threat free. Secunia immediately recognized the updated media direct/2003 ppt viewer. All done. Thanks again, Maurice.

Correct again, Maurice. Installng the second mediadirect update now. And conducting a first full scan on a second PC concurrently. As you can likely tell, I am new to Secunia. Great product.

OK, you say there is an external 65 MB update for MediaDirect but you don't say how/where to get it. I have a Dell XPS M1530 with this same problem. Could you please point me to this update so I can resolve this security issue with my system?

Thanks.
