I find that I have a similar problem with version 3.
Additionally, a scan has taken as long as 2 hours.
I have asked secunia for an answer and as yet not received a reply. if and when I receive an answer, I will let you know.

mothie.

Please go through these steps in the FAQ:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

In case the first steps should not work, then pay special attention to the last part about the "Secunia Update Agent" and "Secunia PSI Agent".

Hi,

I had already done the things in the first part of that FAQ. First thing this morning I uninstalled version 3, and installed version 1.5. It also hangs on start.

Then I got your reply and looked for "Secunia Update Agent" and "Secunia PSI Agent" as running services. They aren't listed at all. There are no Secunia services. Would this still apply with version 1.5?

Just as a bit of extra info, all of my Win 7 gadgets stopped working at the same time as Secunia stopped working. I tried everything listed on MS forums to fix those and nothing works. Kaspersky, Advanced System Care 6, and Malwarebytes all say my system is virus and malware free.

Let me know of anything you want me to try, or any information I can provide. Thanks again for any help.

All required services should be installed and set correctly during installation of the PSI, unless the installer is somehow restricted on the system. Please make sure that no other security programs are restricting the PSI while installing, and that you run the installer with full administrative privileges. Later changes on the system can of course also modify the settings of the services although it can be hard to track down further what causes it. In any case, the services mentioned in the FAQ needs to be set correctly for the PSI to work.

I did a system restore to a point ~2 weeks old. I completely uninstalled Secunia PSI using Revo uninstaller. I re-installed PSI 2.0. Re-verified everything in the FAQ. Now it doesn't even say loading. It just hangs at the initial PSI screen.

Any other ideas? Do you have any type of interrogation and report program?

Thanks again.

Thanks.

I renamed the current psialog.txt file and PSI immediately created a new psialog.txt file. I launched PSI and let it sit stuck at the initial screen for 15 minutes or so, then killed it. Here is the resultant log file. Does this mean anything to anyone?

It is worth checking your user ID has not been corrupted by use of third party uninstaller.

To check navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Secunia\PSI & it should be like this:

https://akkkug.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p1FS5on3fMx...

Is the data string complete?

EDIT: I assume you are logged on as an administrator?

Thank you. It looks to me like the start up is in a loop. This bit from your log looks to be correct for Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit.

What I cannot explain is why it does not open for you on that command.

I would:

Navigate to Windows Explorer & delete all the current log files (perfectly safe as I do it all the time).

Run your sequence of events.

Submit the new log file to Support at support@secunia.com & just explain you have Kaspersky installed & PSI will not load.
