I was momentarily surprised to find that PSI 3 seemed to be ignoring my iCloud, iPhone and iTunes programs, until I realised that they weren't where I was expecting to find them in the results, either the Detailed View or the Icon View.

Even within Apple results, where PSI knows iTunes as Apple iTunes, it shows it after Quicktime and Safari.

The reason seems to be that the sort sequence being used is case sensitive.

It would be arguably better, and would certainly fall into line with Microsoft practice in My Computer and on the Desktop, if it were case insensitive.

I dimly recall commenting on this with PSI 2, and even that it might have been fixed; but if so, it's regressed in PSI 3.

Can Secunia please consider making the sequence case insensitive again?

Thank you very much for your suggestion and feedback.

I have not personally noticed this as an issue so it would be interesting to know if there are other users who believe your suggestion would be an improvement for the PSI. I encourage those users to let us know if this thread. The thread can always be reopened by contacting support@secunia.com.

I agree this will be an improvement. After reading this I discovered that I have a program comdlg32 ActiveX Control 6x which is now at the bottom in icon view but in the right place in list view. There might be more programs whose names dooesn't start with a capital.

I am using PSI version 3.0.0.6001 and it does not appear to case sensitive as can been seen here:

https://akkkug.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pF4awlF2-wp...

I suspect at some stage these headers have been activated which has changed the order.

https://akkkug.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pV_RTlyH0g4...

It is currently very versatile & by clicking any of the headers will alter the display. To put the programmes in alphabetical order click on Programs.

Thanks Maurice. Actually, I had never clicked any of the headings in Detailed View, and so Programs, case-sensitive, seems to be the deep underlying default here.

But once I'd clicked Programs in Detailed View, I did get the case-insensitive sort, and this is retained from run to run.

And so for anyone who has clicked this, I can't think of any way back to what I was seeing initially short of a complete reinstall, perhaps.

But (i) if you toggle Detailed View off, the programs are always in case-sensitive sequence in 'Icon View', as Leendert also reports, and I know of no way of changing this.

And but (ii), the case-insensitve Detailed View is not quite sticky enough. If you toggle Detailed View off and then on again, the programs are now shown in case-sensitive sequence, and need 'Programs' clicking again, or to exit and restart PSI, to regain the case-insensitive view.

(ii) is a minor point, but does show that PSI will regress to a case-sensitive Detailed View, albeit temporarily, if given half a chance.

So there are still three issues here.

{Edited to give a more accurate description of precisely what PSI 3.0 seems to be doing}

Hi Maurice and Midnight Voice. I agree with you that clicking on 'Program names' makes the blue marker visible and clicking then on then result in changing the order of the list. I didn't notice this because the blue marker is not automatically visible. It works the same for all other headers.
