When servers go down, as appeared to be the case most of the day yesterday, it would have been helpful had PSI on my desktop machines could have recognized that and reported the same to me at my desktop. Instead, I wasted a lot of time trying to debug the problem while PSI desktop at the very latest release/version hung in 'loading' status, the tray icon bright red calling for action on my part to fix something PSI had not been able to accomplish.

C'mon guys. Basic courtesy in an app is to provide status to its users. Some message saying "I can't get to my home servers; please try again later" would have provided reassurance and knowledge that the problem was under control.

I second your idea. Such a message should be helpfull and prevent wasting time for the users. I hope that this will be picked up by support as a suggestion for an improvement. If technically possible of course.

Wow, I gotta agree. I thought Secunia PSI must have updated itself or something, and it now hung. I had this on all my 5 computers, so I uninstalled it, tried reinstalling it, same thing. I finally ran around and uninstalled them all. Now I read here the servers were down Jan 23?

This software needs to do something besides sitting there hung when there's an issue. Wait some amount of time and tell us the servers are down and to try later. That shouldn't be too hard to implement!!

I wholeheartedly agree, I must've spend hours trying to fix PSI including uninstalling & reinstalling several times thinking that there was a problem at my end, a message on the forum at least would've been helpful but I didn't see anything.
