I've recently formatted / installed Windows 7 on a PC and installed PSI version 3.0.0.6001 shortly after. A few days later, PSI attempted to download and install the following updates for software NOT installed on my PC:

Program: UltraVNC 1.x, From: 1.0.8.2, To: 1.0.9.1, Update status: Failed
Program: Apple iTunes 9.x, From: 9.1.1.12, To: 10.x, Update status: Failed

The reason I discoverd this was that my anti-virus software alerted me that potentially dangerous VNC remote control software was placed here:
C:\Windows\Temp\Secunia PSI Agent\UltraVNC_1.0.9.1_update.exe

Needless to say, it's concerning. Any ideas why PSI has done this?

PSI gives you the path to the file on your PC it is trying to update.

Open PSI>once open select Show Programs.
U will now see a page full of programme icons or a list.
Right click on the programme in error>select Show Details - that will open a box showing the path & version number of the offending file.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The applications are not listed on the Show Programs screen. Most likely because they are not / have not been installed.

The failed PSI application updates do show up on the History screen, but unfortunately there is no option for right-click detail to see why they were downloaded in the first place.

Any other suggestions?

After you formatted the drive did you clone your "old" files from a PC using PSI onto the new one?
