First, It certainly isn't as useful an opening page.
The start on boot doesn't stay checked. WINPATROL shows C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\SECUNIA\PSI\PSI_TRAY.EXE in the STARTUP Folder

Like others, It runs much longer than 2.0 during a SCAN.

I run on Windows 7 Professional 64bit, C: is on a SSD, Intel i7 930 2.80 GHz, 12.0 GB memory.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It is new to me that the check you have mentioned disappears from the settings in PSI 3. Does that mean that the PSI no longer starts at boot on your computer? Or does it still do that?

Even though it shows in the list of Startup Applications in Winpatrol, TASKMANAGER does NOT
show it running. The Shortcut in Start does nothing. I tracked the PSI 3 to C:\PROGRAMFILES(X86)\SECUNIA\PSI. There are entries for 5 APPLICATIONS. Should I Remove PSI 3 and Re-Install. Before that I will check the whole system for other references to PSI or Secunia. I checked and only the previous location references Secunia\PSI.

What do you suggest.

Thanks

Please try a reinstall of the PSI:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

In case you have other security programs running please make sure that the PSI has not been blocked from starting at boot.

I did Re-Install PSI 3. WINPATROL shows PSI_TRAY in the startup. It seems to do NOTHING.
I finally pinned the psi.exe to the START. The little green icon doesn't show until I run psi.exe.
What is PSI_TRAY supposed to do at boot? In settings the START On Boot is checked and stays checked now.

P.S. I just ran a scan of 68 programs and it went very fast.

When you have "Start at Boot" activated it should appear in the Task Tray on completion/during Windows loading.

The icon colour could vary:

Red - Whoops you need to check what requires attention.

Orange - Minor whoops that requires action.

Grey - No contact with the PSI server - if your browser is working on other sites this indicates that the Secunia server is down.

Green - Magic. All is in order.

As I said. PSI_TRAY is in startup. NOTHING SEEMS TO HAPPEN. When I manually run the PSI.EXE the multi-colored icon appears.

I merely answered your question.

"What is PSI_TRAY supposed to do at boot? In settings the START On Boot is checked and stays checked now."

I have no idea what programme you have installed that is preventing PSI from loading as it should.

I have
msseces.exe -hide -runkey
SUPERAntiSpyware.exe
psi.tray.exe
WinPatrol.exe -expressboot
nusb3mon.exe
Adobe ARM.exe
userinit.exe
explorer.exe

These are in Startup Programs in WinPatrol.

I restarted my system after MS updates. I went into TASKMANAGER and Services shows Secunia PSI Agent running. Still no icon

More activity. Using REGEDIT I found the startup location
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This points to
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\SECUNIA\PSI\PSI_TRAY.EXE
Services in TASKMANAGER shows SECUNIA PSI AGENT running after a BOOT/RESTART.

If I use the Shortcut link in the START list
C:\Users\Chuck\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu
The icon shows.

Very Weird for a GREAT Application.
