I am running XP Service Pack 3 and am going round in circles with the "Malicious Software Removal Tool"

PSI reports the following:
Secure Version states "Product Discontinued"
Status states "Click to update"

Microsoft reports "This tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. Microsoft will release an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month."

When I delete the file it automatically reappears with Windows Updates.

Does anyone else have a similar experience or ideas how this can be resolved?

I would create an ignore rule. My thread here explains the background:

EDIT: Is everything now in order?
