Just read a post from Maurice to glockgal34 about Java. Knew that I updated Java recently, checked my pc and found out that Java 8 upd 71& 72 were installed on January 20. According Maurice the last version is 71 which I believe of course. Both versions were accepted by PSI 3.0. Checked with the Java site and found te last version mentioned: 71 CPU and 72 PSU (OTN). What does this mean? I used the Java internal updater. I'm curious.

Release details are here http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/release_dates....

CPU appears to mean Critical Patch Update

More detail here on the subject if you use Oracle JAVA (Just Another Vulnerability Announcement)!

EDIT

This is also worthy of note if you have JAVA installed

Thanks Maurice, this solved the problem. First I uninstalled both versions in order to avoid unwanted mess in the new installation. Installed 8 u 71 and tested for IE 11 and Firefox 44, both OK. I see that it's the 32 bit version while I have Windows 7 64 bit. Can this cause problems? But I'm in the dark about what happened earlier. I ran the internal updater and instlled 71, which was ok. Then checked again and update 72 was offered. Assuming that the info from Oracle is right I installed 72 but didn't check what exactly was installed. Now I ran the internal updater again and 71 was confirmed as last version.

You look to be OK. The fact you run a 64Bit system has no bearing on Oracle JAVA.
What you have installed is the 32Bit version of JAVA which will run perfectly on the default 32 Bit IE11
