Well, the powers that be have gone ahead and pulled the plug on PSI 2 (for whatever reason). I have been taking a renewed look at PSI 3, and noticed several features that were in PSI 2 are missing from PSI 3, features which are essential for anyone who knows more about computers and system administration than a cucumber does.

Here are the first things on my wish list:

- Update a specific program (analogous to the "Approve update" command of PSI 2)
- Rescan a specific program
- Ignore specific paths and manage the list of those (PSI 3 currently only offers to ignore a "program", but does not specify the identification criteria. By program name? By file hash? By path name? We simply don't know, we're not told, just don't worry your pretty little head about that and go sit at the kids' table.)
- Links to vulnerability information

Any thoughts on implementing these? As I stated before, I think these features are essential if PSI 3 is ever supposed to be as useful as PSI 2 was.

Thanks in advance.

References for security issues missing
For each unsecure program PSI 2.0 showed references e.g SA's. In my view this
is a very important feature when I must decide how to deal with a securiy issue.

Simply flagging a program as unsecure without any reference is useless as we have seen recently:
https://secuniaresearch.flexerasoftware.com/commun... .

H.Hansen explained here
https://secuniaresearch.flexerasoftware.com/commun... ,
that PSI 2.0 went EOL only because the servers, where PSI 2.0 was hosted, went EOL!
So it should be possible to expand the features of PSI 3.0 in order that CVE-entries or SA's
are shown for unsecure programs in PSI 3.0, too.

@Maurice Joyce
I'm still having great interest in your method of keeping yourself secure...

Klaus

Well, what's the point of a forum, then? I think I've seen the occasional Secunia employee wander in here.

How's this for a feature request: access to the list of scanned programs even if it's a few days old.

The forum is here sothat users can help each other. Long ago Secunia personnel were active in the forum but that support stopped. Indeed you have seen posts from Secunia recently but that was because of the announcement that v.2 was EOL.
