Dear all,

I have a problem with recent installation of PSI 3.0 .
All of a sudden few weeks ago it started throttling through stages "Determining files for scan", "Scanning files", "Scanning Windows updates", "Sending list", "Retrieving list".

I typed states by memory but you should be familiar with them.

Through all of these states Secunia PSI throttles in several seconds. Reinstall and even deleting C:\Program Files (x86)\Secunia did not help at all.

Any idea?

While ago I knew which registry key to erase to force PSI to open new profile, but I can't recall where it is now ...

Hi,

PSI can pause on certain stages depending upon system's resource availability or load on the server. If you are looking for the registry which stores the PSI settings then it can found at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Secunia\PS I

You should first uninstall the PSI and then delete the registry settings. Reinstall the PSI again and verify that the registry settings are created.

I forgot to mention that I work in ancient Windows 7 64 bit installation.

UserID key is in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Secunia\PSI Internal

Do I get the things right?
Doesn't tampering with registry directly with regedit void the warranty?

Thanks,
Marv

Hi,

Yes. You can delete PSI Internal and PSI folder.

I am not sure if you are referring to guarantee for your PC or PSI. PSI don't provide any guarantee but you can check with you local vendor to see if this voids any warranties. However, programs write and remote registry entries on regular basis.

Sorry, but uninstall, registry key deletion and reinstall didn't work for me. PSI still throttles through all regular states in less than second.

I am positive that I deleted HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Secunia

Out of moves.

Hello,

Do you see any scan results after the scan?

Now I see some scanning results after a throttled scan but they are frozen, forever "Updating" on 10 items.
Definitely doesn't look healthy. And it retained memory of past updates somewhere.

Should I also delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Secunia together with registry key you have recommended?

I have just tested PSI and the scanner appears to be running fast, furious and accurately.

Why not delete both log files then run a scan to see what problems are highlighted?

Not long to go before the programme is history and will require uninstalling.

The best way to achieve that now or in the future is to use the Flexera uninstaller in File Explorer. Some may wish to then remove the Secunia Folder housing the user ID in the registry but it is not strictly necessary.
