Wellcome to the club! I'm a user for a longer time now and I am very satisfied. There is no update process from the main screen. In the blue bar in the lower right corner you see the curren version: 1.0.0.4. There you will see a new version when available and then you can down- load/install from there. And keep in mind: not everything is easy while
working with Secunia. But you found your way to the forum. Here are a lot of experienced people to help you when problems occur.

Strange! I didn't see any problem while updating from 1.0.0.3 to 1.0.0.4
last week. I run under Vista Home Premium. Can you specify what went wrong?

For programs which don't have any built-in update abilities, I generally prefer to uninstall them and then install the latest version. I suppose one of the reasons why PSI has no built-in update ability is that this would create a vector for malicious programs to hack PSI in order to make it report that your programs are up to date and safe.

When I click on the blue "new version available now"...I can run it, but then it says I need to exit the program to install..when I click on "exit"..it says secunia will no longer alert me to "insecure/End-of-life" software installed on my computer, increasing the chances of my system being compromised, due to being out of date. So..what DO I do?

Don't worry, that's all right. The installation procedure begins with
stopping the running version and warns that you at that moment have
no Secunia available. After stopping the running version, the old version is deleted and the new one installed. Once the new version is installed, you see it starts up, connects to the internet and loads your account data. I did this last week, no problems at all.
