PSI detects insecure application Microsoft Excel 2003, 11.0.8231.0

So Download the solution...
Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB959995)

Install the solution
@ office2003-KB959995-FullFile-ENU.exe

Dialog box is displayed
- The expected version of the product was not found on your system.

So Microsoft will not patch this program, and PSI still thinks its insecure.

What's going on here?

Problem fixed

Ms Update was not recognising that Excel 2003 was already at SP3 revision.

Reinstalled Office 2003 SP3

Auto Updates, Ms Update, then installed required patches.

Thanks Secunia for highlighting problem!

I am having Excell 2003 flagged as being insecure but when I run the suggested update it states that it is already installed. When I rescan Secunia still says it is insecure. Any suggestions?

@Cumbres

Lots of solutions to this problem already posted on the forum.

Try this one - talks about PowerPoint but the same fix applies.

I did do the PPTViewer fix and got that one done. I downloaded the requested file that Secunia recommended. I did get it to unpack but I end up with a "excel.msp" file and am unsure what to do with that. I looked at trying to find some way to extract the excel.exe file that needs updating but was unsuccessful.

Thanks.
