Why can't Secunia tell me, what is missing, instead just telling: Insecure.
you must know the reason, why you say: insecure (You have checked it)
So Please tell exactly the full reason of insecureness to your clients.

F.e.: I have updated MS XP Prof until 2009-4-22 except installing IE7 ( I use IE8 and except wmp11 ( I don't like - I use VLC ).
So, after scanning = my computer is insecure.
Can't you enhance your checking and tell your clients exactly

which file or what program

is missing?
Peter

Hi Peter,

Check your Automatic Update settings in Control Panel and make sure that any option is selected other than "Turn off Automatic Updates". It make a few hours up to a full day for Automatic Updates to notify you that there are updates available for your computer with SP3. I had this problem too, and running Windows Update didn't show any available updates. Yet, after several hours, Automatic Update finally notified me that there were updates available for download and installation. Note that I have Automatic Update set to Notify so that I can choose when to download and install them.

:-)

Thank you for your help.
It is hard to understand your meaning - although you discribe it good.

I will tell you, how my settings are done:
Result Detail level: not enable
Start Secunia PSI on boot: enable
Enable program monitoring: enable

As a german, I try to understand your advise - but before I change this, I would wait for your answer which tells me if I was wrong/right by each kind of settings.
Please tell me again - so I can understand it and fix it for good working.
Peter

What I was trying to say is that, for some reason, you may need to open Control Panel and then double-click on "Automatic Update". Then select any other setting and click "Apply", and then click on your preferred setting and once again click "Apply". Apparently one of Microsoft's previous updates messed up this Automatic Update setting. So, doing the above, should restore the Automatic Update functionality, and sometime within a couple of hours to within one day you should see the Automatic Updates icon in your system tray which is showing that updates are available.

Thank you for your reply.
Where do I find the Controll Panell? Sorry to ask you such a simple question.
You should know, that I am living in China, having a chinese Win XP Pro and do not understand the chinese letters properly.
You are very kind in helping me - but this is my greatest problem: not understanding the chin. letters.
Thank you
Peter
I usually work with Moz. ff3.09

To open Automatic Updates, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Automatic Updates then select Automatic (recomended) or at a minimum select Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.

Thank you YoKenny
I will try to find out, where the "Control-Panell is". It is easy to say, go to start and click on the control-panell, if you understand the opened startlist.
I will go on with finding it.

BTW - I will be offline from saturday until 15th of Mai, because we are moving to another city, and the internet will be opened in our new house at the 14th or 15th.

For the moment, I will say thank you very much for the help.

I promise to call in again, as soon as I can go online.
