hi i'm new to secunia today, just installed PSI. Does PSI run in background automatically, and send me reminders when i need new patches, or is there a way to set up my profile so PSI automatically will do this, or do I have to fire up PSI and scan manually from time to time? thanks.

Thanks for the link to the FAQ page, which is really useful.

For the record Maurice, is that FAQ page still available on the main website menus? I can get to it by clicking on the url you gave me, but when I just log onto the site as normal, I can't seem to find the FAQ on the navigation menus anywhere? I click on 'Vulerability Scanning', then 'Personal/PSI', then, in the left hand menu there are several items listed, from 'Dowloads' at the top to 'How/Purpose/Privacy' at the bottom. Looked in all of them but can find no reference to FAQs. So intrigued as to how I'd find my way back to FAQs if I deleted or forgot the link you sent me?

The FAQ doesn't appear to have been updated for over a year, Cliff. Some of the items in it are obsolete and not correct for PSI 1.0.0.4. Many of the items are still useful though. You might have to bookmark it to find it again easily. A search on "frequently asked questions" using the search box on the Secunia site will find it too.

Yes, if Settings > Start the Secunia PSI on boot is checked.

After doing a scan, psi will inform you if any of the scanned programs are insecure. You can do that at any time manually. psi will automatically do a full scan every week or so, if it's running. You don't have to do anything except address any issues it reports.
