On 10-15 BitDefender Internet Security 2010 BLOCKED an item as follows. File: C\ProgramData\BitDefender\Desktop\Quarantine\Temp\ iMonitor.exe
Virus Name: DeepScan:Generic.Malware.P!Pk!.DCFD6C1D

On 10-20 at 4:46 AM, BD moved an item to QUARANTINE as follows:
File: same path as above
Virus: Same name as above

On 10-20 at 6:48 PM, BD again moved this same item to QUARANTINE and this time I seen the pop up warning box and it stated that psi.exe had tried to access this. I opened psi and it did do a scan at that time.

I can't get any help from BitDefender. I sent them a report on 10-15, they sent me a couple of tools to run, the one tool would not run properly so I let them know that and sent the report from the other tool. I've contacted them twice since then and still no answer.

Since psi tried to access this I was hoping perhaps someone here could shed some light on this for me. I've Googled this virus name and the only thing I can find on it is what I myself have submitted.

Any ray of light would be appreciated.

I believe at some stage you have had SOPHOS anti virus or Internet Security installed on your PC. Please confirm.

I have never heard of this SOPHOS, but psi.exe is constantly trying to access this infected file. I just get one warning after another.

This will give you a clue.

Maybe worth contacting AChen to get more details.

I notice U are also active on the BD Forum but little help there for U to date.

The background is interesting as the file appears to be part of the remote updater for Sophos.

I am sorry to be such a dummy, but who is AChen?

Yes, I am active on the BD forum and I'm not getting any help. Really discouraging to pay for a program and not get any more help than this.

I had read that post you gave me the link to because I have spent hours googling this. I can't see any help there because if that person ever got an answer I sure don't see it.

I also found something relating this to SOPHOS, but as I said, I have no idea what that even is. Would it be something BitDefender is using to update or something?

Whatever this is, I'm getting one pop up after another telling me that this had been blocked or quarantined because psi.exe is trying to access it. Funny part is, some of the pop ups have said that this file can't be cleaned, deleted or quarantine so it has been blocked, and then the next pop up will say that it has been quarantined. At this point I don't know if I've got an infection or if this is just some goofy false positive and I'm scared to even go to my banking site.

If U go to the link I gave U will see AChen claims it is a Sophos file. Click on his name & it gives details of how to contact him.

I agree the link is only a lead - it may be a false positive by BD but then the question remains how U got that file.

I will keep looking for U.
