Do I need to have Shockwave Updater or SunJavaUpdateSched run at startup? I'm asking because it looks to me like if I have psi running it will tell me if my Java or Shockwave is out of date. If that is not correct please advise.

A cutting from my post on updating JAVA. Same applies to Shockwave.

"2. Once the update is complete go to Control Panel>JAVA icon>Update Tab and take the tick out of box marked "Check for updates auto ....." (This will prevent a an unnecessary file from starting each time U switch on your PC - PSI is already doing this job for U)"

I use WinPatrol to edit startup items. I can disable them but they remain in the window so if I want to enable them again I can.

When I selected this Shockwave Updater I just feel so sure I selected disable but it disappeared, so now am wondering if I hit the remove key instead. When I go to C/Windows/System32/Adobe/Shockwave and open it there is no updater item listed. Is this going to cause me problems if I have completely deleted it ... and is there any way to get it back?

U may have deleted the start up entry & not deleted it - no harm in that.
