Hello,
I just installed the PSI software yesterday and performed my first scan where it told me that I had a security threat for the above entitled topic. I recently had to reset my laptop (Dell 1525 Inspiron) back to factory settings and recently installed version 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x86 (KB 963707) which is the latest version. This is what is written in the Windows update history screen that I have open as I'm writing this. I updated this on April 18th. Yet I'm confused as to how the PSI software says I have version 3.x! Any ideas as to how I can rectify this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and good day

Hi gjjean,
I apologize if I misspelled your name. I can't tell if the letter before the j is another j or an i. In any event, I did restart my laptop, rescanned my computer, and I;m still getting the same result. As for the other link, I checked to see if I had the previous versions of .NET and the update history screen that the previous versions are there as well as 3.5. It was a little technical to be honest, but from what I can tell so far, .NET Framework should be up to date. I don't know. Maybe you have some other ideas I can try?

Have U run MS update in the CUSTOM mode?

Net Framework are optional updates. If U see any in custom install them.

Hi Maurice,
No, I have Vista Home Premium. In any event my problem has been solved. I'm 100% in the clear now. Still I am interested in learning about CUSTOM mode.

OK - U only get that option with XP (I think) when U do a manual. I believe Vista works like Windows 7 - U activate a manual update & it tells U whether they are critical or optional?

It is rare to get .Net updates via Critical & they are sometimes overlooked because many rely on Automatic update that does not install Optionals on any Windows Platform.

Does that help?

@Nebu...

Please go to this site for the MS .net Framework http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wins...

If youre not satisfied maybe you can open " Windows Update " and click on
" Restore hidden Updates " to see if there is any updates to download .

Wish you luck
