Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 still shows as insecure bur Microsoft Update shows nothing outstanding. PSI detects Microsoft Publisher 2003 MSPUB.EXE as Version 11.0.8212.0

As I said in my query I have run Microsoft Update and nothing showed. But to make sure I downloaded the patch in the link in your reply and it told me that I already have this patch. I have even tried to run the Mspub.msp file as this forces the patch to run. I have had occasion when this has fixed a problem but this did not fix the Insecure Program warning for Microsoft Office Publisher 2003. This is an incorrect indication that needs to be fixed in the database for PSI.

Hi
Please open PSI in Advanced mode and click on the + sign of the offending program to locate what Secunia picks as insecure then see the installation path of that program then in toolbox click Open folder and right click to see the properties of that file.
I think it will be a leftover of previous installation.

Good luck

Hi
Actually it was in the correct installation folder. I actually fixed the problem by re-installing Office 2003 and that fixed the incorrect detection. The file Version did not change so there must have been something else missing maybe in the registry or something.
Cheers.
The Fly.

I have the same problem.

PSI identifies C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSPUB.EXE as 11.0.8212.0.

But looking at properties for this file I find it is 11.0.8321.0.

Similarly:

C:\Program Files\Adobe Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe is reported as 8.2.1.255 but is 8.2.2.217.

And:

I have XP SP3 reported as insecure but all available Windows Updates are installed and it doesn't say what is missing.

@Protopia
I think your problem is slightly different. @The Fly has solved his problem & is liable to lock this thread preventing any more additions.

If your problem persists I would cut & paste your request & create your own thread.

Actually on the same computer after fixing the MS Publisher 2003 false unsecure detection From PSI I then got a false unsecure detection on MS Access 2003. I found that switching from Advanced to Simple in PSI this detection would disappear in Simple Mode and re-appear when switching to Advanced Mode. I then went to the Profile section and deleted the Secunia Profile and then did another scan and subsequently PSI's false unsecure detection of MS Access 2003 disappeared as well.
I pass on this experience in the hope it helps some of you out there. I guess it was a corruption in the Secunia profile on this PC and PSI's inability to detect and fix this when re-scanning.
