Windows Mail (located in C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe) is detected as if it is Windows Live Mail. However, these are two completely different programs.
OS: Vista
Secunia PSI 1.5.0.1

hi

Yes, I had not noticed this before I have two entries for Windows Live Mail and there are two different files

1. C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe

2. C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe

Perhaps a Secunia Official will see this post and arrange for it to be corrected.

Hi,

This should now be fixed. Please try a full rescan again, and let me know if this fixes the problem.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry, but it isn't fixed. Just ran a full scan, but it still says Windows Mail is Windows Live Mail...

hi Emil

Have just carried out a scan, the Windows Live Mail is recorded as before, however, there are now 6 entries for Windows Mail and not one as before and they are all called Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail.

I've made some further changes. After a new full rescan, does it still show?
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Hi,

Could you post both paths here? Anything with /Windows Live/ in the path shouldn't be detected.

C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe

please note: it doesn't contain /windows live/, but \windows live\.

But why shouldn't Windows Live be detected?
The problem is that the Windows Mail is incorrectly called 'Windows Live Mail', but the Windows Live\Mail one is correct...

Hi,

I meant to say "Only windows live should be detected". All scans should now exclude any path not containing "Windows Live", so if you try scanning again, it should only show one entry.

hi Emil

A further scan now shows as you indicate, does that mean Windows Mail cannot or should not be shown ?

Thank you.

Hi,

No, Windows mail should be shown. Unfortunately, I don't have a file signature for it. Could I ask you to create a software suggestion for Windows Mail, selecting the WinMail.exe file?

You can create a Software Suggestion by navigating to the Insecure tab, scrolling to the bottom if necessary, and clicking the "Suggest software here" button.

Hi,

As far as I can see, everything seems to be in order now. Is anyone still having misdetection issues?
