I've had several crashes of PSI on Windows 7. Previous crashes have been when I opened the laptop, but the current crash was different: I unplugged the power cable to move the laptop and up popped "Secunia PSI has stopped working". (Correlation is not causation, but is suspicious.)

I'm running a fully patched version of Windows 7 on a machine only a few months old. At the time of the most recent crash I was running several programs (Mozilla products, Open Office, Metapad, Apache, Task Coach) but nothing "strange". The only web site open in Firefox was eBay. I'm using about half my system memory (no swapping), and only a small fraction of my CPU. Recent scans by PSI have found no problems. I'm running McAfee Security Center (came with the laptop) and it hasn't found any problems.

I tried it after the first crash, and I just tried it again:

No new solutions found
When solutions are available, they will appear in Action Center.

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't always think of Microsoft troubleshooting but it is occasionally helpful.

Hi,

Could you try downgrading to 1.5.0.1? You can obtain this version from here:
ftp://ftp.secunia.com/PSISetup1501.exe

Has this solved the problem?

I have tried 1.5.0.1 for several days, and opened and closed my laptop a few more times than usual. I have not seen any crashes with 1.5.0.1.
