Hello. I was warned by secunia that this program was an issue, yet when I try to delete the flash10h.ocx file I get an error saying that I need administrator approval, yet I am the only administrator and owner/user of the pc. What do I need to do to change the permissions so that I am recognized by this computer as the administrator? It's an older hp Pavilion a1430n, dual amd athlon cpu 64x2 3800, 2Ghz, with windows 7 ultimate (32). Thank you very much for your time and help since nothing I seem to do is working.

Cindy

Make sure all these are closed (use Task Manager if necessary)

a. All Browsers.
b. PSI.
c. Windows Messenger.
d. Incredimail.
e. Adobe Free Reader.

Navigate back to the h entry & try a right click delete again

Revo uninstaller may remove it for you without changing user accts. Or > go to control panell > personalize> user accts. Change any or add new ones. I have Vista but there cannot be much difference in windows 7. Just note it is not wise to run your computer as the administrator so set up a new acct. for special needs and use your regular user for all else. Of note, I occasionally get the same pop-up on occasion when I am running with the Admin.ID but a couple of tries and the request stops without intervention. I have only the one ID.

It's possible that there's a program running with embedded Internet Explorer, which is in turn flagging the file as in use. Try installing LockHunter (http://www.lockhunter.com/) and having it take a look at what processes are using it.

Thank you, I will try this, I actually had set up another account for myself as admin, 2 others in fact, and now I cannot remove either one of those.

I tried and it did not work, I closed everything I could think of including PSI, no luck. I did manage to take the file from the desktop and put it back where it started to try and deal with it. I also tried changing users to another of my administrator accounts and got the same permission error.

Cindy,
What is the path?

FINDING A VULNERABILITY FILE PATH
=================================

To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, use or switch to the ADVANCED interface, then :

1 Click on the + sign of the programme to "expand' it.
2 Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file. (Copy (CTRL+C) & paste (CTRL+V) the Installation Path of the file back to the Forum if U are unsure what to do next.

OK - this should do it for U.

Uninstall Flash using this tool:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html?promoid...

To successfully install Adobe Flash go here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/

& then here if U have any Gecko based (Firefox etc) browsers.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_fire...

The latest version is:10.1.82.76

1. Download & SAVE it to desktop.
2. The installer will appear on the desk top. Before agreeing to install check these programmes are closed:
a. All Browsers.
b. PSI.
c. Windows Messenger.
d. Incredimail.
e. Adobe Free Reader.

3. The new install will then remove all old files during the update process.
4. Complete a PSI rescan & all should be in order.
5. Delete the Flash installer from the desktop.
