Installed after removing PSI 1.5.x without any issues. Picked up the old data, registration, etc. OK. Scan started, did not find all - found Total Results = 278 of 347 and 18 missing (?). Wonder what that all means. In addition, clicking on Results blows PSI up. Generated errors... message, so I have no idea what the results are. I have it set to start on Boot Up and Enable Program Monitoring, but Automatic Updates off since I have no idea what it found during the Scan.

One other item, it never completes the Determining missing MS patches.... check. Now FYI, I a am running Win2K SP4 with all patches posted up to the drop dead date. Tyan 2469 w/onboard SCSI 320/1GB LAN with dual AMD 64 X2 4800 CPUs and 3GB ECC RAM.

As to the interface, well I must say I prefer the older one in Advanced Mode, but since I can not fully explore this proggie as yet due to its collapsing when trying to view Results, I will not vote it down as yet.

A VERY devoted fan of PSI.

Last edited on 9th Sep, 2010 10:01 Hi,

About the scan results in the Secunia PSI 2.0 Beta. The mechanism for scanning has not changed radically, and the PSI still detects every program it did before (If anything, it detects more programs). However, a few of the specific changes in the 2.0 Beta could make it appear that some programs have disappeared.

One is that the PSI now tries to group several detections of the same program as one entry, and only counts it as one. This mean that if you, for example, have 5 installations of Google Chrome 5.x, only 1 will be counted and shown in the statistics. This is to avoid the confusion caused by "Zombie Files" (Upgrade leftovers), which was a common issue with older versions of the PNI.

You can still see every detected instance by expanding the program entry under "Results". If you double-click the entry, you can see a list with the appropriate status for each detected installation.

Another is that the PSI now by default only scans the root drive (Which is usually C:), and the drive containing "Program Files" (Usually also C:). To scan other drives, you can go to the Settings tab and choose which drives you wish to scan under "Drives", simply by setting a check box next to the appropriate drive.

As for your other difficulties, do your settings in Internet Explorer match those described in this item of our FAQ?
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

hope this helps.
