Dashboard is blank after a Scan.
An error Box apperars

ERRROR: TypeError
Function:Util.switchPage
File:undefined
Line:undefined
Description:"length" is nul or not an object

I also get a report that PowerPoint Viewer is end of Life. Downloading PPV 7 just confuses the issue.

Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. 8Gig Memory. Office Home and Student 2010. Bought & paid for.
Personal Software Inspector (PSI) 2.0

Are U using IE9 BETA?

Microsoft Office. With a full version of Office 2010 U do not require anything else.

Have a look in Control Panel>add/remove - have U got any Microsoft Office viewers for Office 2003/2007?

Have U got the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack?

These are not required & should be removed.

If U need to uninstall items reboot & then run a full PSI rescan. What does it say now?

I am having a similar problem to SteveP's first issue. I, too, am suddenly seeing a blank Dashboard, with the same error:

Error: TypeError
Function: util.switchPage
File: undefined
Line: undefined
Description: 'length' is null or not an object.

I was originally getting this on PSI 2.0.0.1003 (if I remember the number correctly), so I uninstalled, installed the latest version (2.0.0.3001), and rebooted. Same result.

Also, when it completes a scan, the result is a system score of 0%, with 0 programs detected. (Not 0 Insecure, or 0 e-o-l, but 0 programs at all).

I do not have MSOffice installed at all on this particular machine, so nothing related to that mentioned by SteveP is affecting me.

The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3. I also ran Microsoft Update, and there are no outstanding high priority or optional updates pending for the machine.

I have two other machines running PSI. Neither of them are displaying this behavior. Both of these are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. One is running PSI 2.0.0.3001, the other 2.0.0.2001.

Now, strangely, the problem seems to have resolved itself without any intervention from me. (No additional reboot or reinstall.)

Same error here - not limited to just after a scan though

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, no Microsoft Office installed

Default browser is Firefox - Using IE9Beta for all windows stuff

PSI 2 build 2.0.0.1003 [edit]

Automatic Updates on [update]

I fixed all errors and then restarted PSI

Dashboard showed no problems

Viewed Scan results - which showed no problems

Returned to Dashboard and get errors.

Error occurs when re-opening dasboard from anywhere else in PSI

---------------------
[update]
When I study the dashboard at startup it has no information in it at all
- no Quick Summary
- no patch history
- no history of PSI scores.
Only the headers

PSI shows PSI System Score as 0% - and I have been so religious about updating too.

I have run Registry Cleaners and Optimisers

Problem fixed:
- I deleted build 2.0.0.1003 via Control Panel
- Downloaded and installed Build 2.0.0.3001

Result:
- PSI loaded and ran Scan - I didn't see if dashboard was empty or what System Score was
- Switched to Dashboard and got the ERROR message (under discussion)
- Switched back to Scan
- Completed Scan - Dialog showed perfect score, no problems
- Switched back to Dashboard
- No error message
- Dashboard NOT empty
- PSI System Score Green 100%

My testing is a bit sloppy (I don't have to do the maintenance after all)
- I deleted build 1003 via Control Panel and didn't let the reinstall of build 3001 automatically delete the earlier version - It is possible that the update from PSI 1 to PSI 2 caused a problem
- I installed build 3001 - if reinstalling 1003 again had solved the problem it would have demonstrated that the problem was not in the software.

Conjecture: Is deletion of earlier version during upgrade causing problems??

Hi,

How many people experiencing this problem are using Microsoft Security Essentials?

For those that are, if you add "psi.exe" and "psia.exe" to Settings > Excluded processes in MSSE, is the problem resolved?

Hope this helps.

Not using MSSE, and has never been installed on the affected machine.

Hi,

Do you use any other AV, IDS or other security products? Especially those with real-time protection are of interest.

Yes, a Symantec product. If I can get the issue to reappear then I will try to do the equivalent. Please note a few things, however:

- Nothing has changed with the Symantec product, other than routine automated AV signature updates.

- Previous versions of PSI, as well as the affected version (2.0.0.1003) were running fine under the product for a while.

- Version 2.0.0.3001 is running fine right now under the product, but initially exhibited the issue. I am not able to reproduce the issue through normal use now that it has disappeared.

One other oddity to note, which may or may not be related: When I initiate a scan manually on version 2.0.0.3001 (on both the XP machine and either Win7 machine) I get a task bar notification bubble twice. It first pops up some time after step 2 completes, and then (after I dismiss it) again after step 8 completes and around the time that the "successfully scanned" dialog opens on PSI. It is likely not related, but I thought it worth mentioning, since I don't remember that happening with versions earlier than build 3001.

Hi,

The issue with the "scan buble" showing up twich is a known bug. Our developers will look into it for a future version.

If do you have any test results or conclusions to add, please let me know, especially if it relates to any firewall systems or intrusion detection/real-time monitoring systems.

Hope this helps.

Emil,
I can confirm that Norton Internet Security 2011 & Malwarebytes Professional (real time) work flawlessly together & with PSI V 2.0.0.3001 on both Windows 7 64BIt & XP SP3.

I am currently in the process of upgrading a Windows 7 64Bit PC with the latest versions of PSI & Microsoft Security Essentials V2. I will report back once complete.

The same thing happened to me as to RobertB151. It fixed it self. Both Powerpoint Viewer 3 to Powerpoint Viewer 7. Done. It was Windows Update Tuesday Yesterday, who knows.
Thanks for all the feed back. Nice crowd.

I had the same problem of Error: that went to an empty Dashboard. Also no Drives recognized and wouldn't Scan manually.Went into Administration Tools/Services. Restarted Secunia PSI that was Started/Automatic already. Presto!
