When I run Windows Update I am told my system is up to date. However, Secunia PSI is showing that I need an update for Microsoft Visual C++2005 Redistributable Package. Detected instances:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VC\msdia80.dll, version 8.0.50727.762

If this is legitimate why wouldn't Windows Update be picking up on it?

This is an old issue.

Navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VC\msdia80.dll

Can U also see MSDIA90.DLL there?

OK - Navigate back again to:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VC\msdia80.dll

Right click on it & select RENAME then add _OLD to the end so it looks like this

MSDIA80.DLL_OLD

Complete a full PSI rescan & U are back to 100%

Everything seems to be ok now. I had to put the _OLD right after the 80, rather than after the dll, but the scan shows all back to normal.

Thanks Maurice. I was reading some of the other posts while I was waiting for PSI to rescan. You are absolutely one of a kind! You don't get upset and short with people and make them feel like they are idiots. You just hang right in there with them and keep moving forward. Congratulations on being the kind of person you are.
