Updated from secunia 1.5.0.1 and followed all the advice on "Secunia psi stuck at verifying internet connection" etc.

I only had to set a ckeck at "turn off advanced text services for this program"

I am running XP Pro Quad core, 3.5Ghz ram and it took over 39 minutes to run a scan .......a lot longer than the previous version....

Q Is there something I can do to speed it up or is there something else going on?

Score on previous version 97% - no changes made and now I have 100%.

many thanks

Peter

Peter,
Just ran a manual scan. Took about 22 seconds which is near to my average.

Although boring it might be a good idea to recheck the FAQ here to check U have set everything up correctly.

Edit: Sorry missed your main point - 39 minutes is far too long - many average between 1 & 3 minutes.

Hi,

Yes, 39 minutes is indeed far, far too long (Unless your disk is several terrabytes, in which case we take no responsibility).

A few things to look for:

* Having Internet Explorer configured as per FAQ item #s3 (at least). See above
* Having the latest version of Internet Explorer - many people report IE9 being significantly faster with the PSI
* Defragmenting your harddisk
* Reinstalling the PSI: ftp://ftp.secunia.com/PSISetup.exe

We should definitively be able to get your scan down to 4-5 minutes, tops, depending on how many files you have/how many programs you have installed.

Hope this helps.

Uninstalled, defraged, reinstalled making sure settings on advanced text ok - they had not changed with the uninstall.

All loaded then got message "Data Execution Prevention" and the program was shut down. Read forum on this topic from the begining of this year and checked advanced text services in the Regional and languages section - it had reset with uninstall? and now everything is now working after another uninstall and install etc.

Performed scan in 3m 5 sec and at 100%

In passing I got the thumbs up from Secunia yesterday for I tunes 10.2.1.1 but when I tried Secunia OSI scan today it advised of update to 10.2.2 ??? Wonder why it was not picked up yesterday? Updated anyway manually.

Anyway thanks to all who contributed to my problem - now solved.

Peter
