4) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in Adobe Shockwave
Player, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a
user's system.

The vulnerability is caused by missing input validation in
TextXtra.x32 as a function designed to read data into a provided
destination buffer obtains a size value from a DEMX chunk and then
reads the specified number of bytes into the buffer without ensuring
that it is sufficiently sized. This can be exploited to cause buffer
overflows via a specially crafted Director file.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
