3) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in multiple VMware
products, which can be exploited by malicious, local users in a guest
virtual machine to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when NULL
terminating a Unicode string while processing the 0x8600204C IOCTL
request, which can be exploited to cause an out-of-bounds write and
corrupt kernel pool memory.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow executing
arbitrary code with kernel privileges within the guest operating
system.

Note: This only affects installations running Windows guests.
